CRUZ DAVIS COMMITS TO TEXAS TECH

Cruz Davis commits to Texas Tech

Texas Tech landed one of the best players in the portal in Hofstra’s Cruz Davis. Davis, the Plano native, averaged 20.1 PPG, 3.7 RPG, and 4.7 APG on 44 FG% and 40 3P%. Several teams were in the mix for Davis, such as Kentucky and South Carolina, but he ended up choosing Grant McCasland and Texas Tech.

Cruz Davis has a chance to be the next star Texas Tech point guard. He comes off a year where he was named the CAA Player of the Year and led Hofstra to the 13 seed in the NCAA Tournament, where they too lost to Alabama. At 6’3 and with his speed, but he has the opportunity to be our best player for this year. Davis has real All-American potential and will look to give us an All-American for the second straight season (Toppin and Anderson).

Davis is the first get of the portal cycle for the Red Raiders, and I am very interested to see how they build around him. Anderson will most likely enter the draft or the transfer portal, and Toppin will most likely redshirt this upcoming season.

Cruz Davis will be an amazing player, and it is up to the staff to see how well they can build around Davis for the 2026-2027 season.
